How many times has Tiger Woods been sued? Court cases against star golfer explored
Tiger Woods once again landed in hot water. He was being sued by his long-term girlfriend Erica Herman for damages worth around $30 million.
Erica Herman, former general manager of The Woods Jupiter (Tiger Woods' restaurant), filed a case against a trust owned by Tiger Woods and asked the court to nullify an NDA signed by her at the beginning of her relationship with the golfer in 2017.
However, it is not the first time Woods has been in trouble. Previously, his ex-wife Elin Nordegren dropped a bombshell on him after she found out about his affair.
The 15-time major champion's inevitable divorce cost him more than $750 million, as reported by several outlets.
Woods was found cheating on his wife with New York City nightclub manager Rachel Uchietel in November 2009. A few days later, dozens of women came forward and claimed that they had an affair with him. Following the infidelity charges, the couple went their own ways and ended their six-year-old marriage.
In 2017, Woods was arrested near his house in Jupiter for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He pleaded guilty at the hearing to reckless driving and was fined $250 in addition to 50 hours of community service.
He was prohibited from drinking alcohol for probation, and if found guilty, Woods would be sentenced to jail for 90 days and fined up to $500.
In 2021, he was involved in a tragic car accident in which he would have lost his left leg. Fortunately, his passion for golf helped him recover and play again.
A look into Tiger Woods' controversies over the years
The legendary golfer made headlines two days before his cheating scandal went viral. Reportedly, after his wife came to know about his affair, he tried to run from his house and hit the SUV into a tree near his house in Isleworth, Windermere.
Following the incident, Woods withdrew from the Chevron World Challenge and kept himself away from the media.
In December 2009, Tiger Woods was fined for reckless driving, and soon after another woman named Jamiee Grubbs claimed that she also had an affair with the golf pro.
On December 11, he announced an indefinite break from his career in an attempt to save his marriage, which eventually ended in 2010 after his divorce was finalized.
The incident brought a lot of hate from the public and several companies and brands withdrew their deals and cut ties with Tiger Woods, including Accenture.
However, Woods issued a public apology and returned to the game in March 2010. He has since tried his best to avoid getting in trouble and was private about his personal life.
Nonetheless, he was recently sued by his girlfriend. Erica Herman accused the golfer of tricking her into leaving the Florida mansion and claimed $30 million in damages.
In her statement, the restaurant manager claimed that people working for Woods threw her things out of their mansion and took her $40,000 cash.
She asked the court to nullify the non-disclosure agreement signed by her in 2017 as she is now ready to reveal details of her relationship with the golf legend.
