“I’m not winning, what the f***?” – Netflix’s Full Swing explores Brooks Koepka's downfall on the PGA Tour

Episode 2 of Netflix’s Full Swing has the spotlight on Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka. While the series follows Scheffler’s journey to winning the Masters, it showcases the downfall of Brooks Koepka on the PGA Tour.

The episode, titled 'Win or Go Home', starts by exploring the greatness of Koepka. It talks about the golfer’s golden run of form on the circuit from 2017 to 2019. However, it comes crashing down as Koepka starts speaking about his bad patch of form. The 32-year-old is seen struggling at last year’s WM Phoenix Open, following which he admits to having performance pressure. The golfer even explodes as he says, “I’m not winning, what the f***?” to himself.

Speaking about failing to defend his WM Phoenix Open title, Brooks Koepka said:

“I remember leaving thinking like, I really had that golf tournament with a chance to win and I’m not winning, what the f***?”

It’s pertinent to note that Koepka played in the final group with Theegala and Scheffler at the event. However, a bogey on the stadium 16th, which drew boos from the rowdy gallery, saw him crash out of the playoffs.

Two years ago this week, Brooks Koepka won the Phoenix Open and got emotional about what will likely be his last PGA Tour win.

Today, he shot 78 at the International Series Oman, sits behind Jbe Kruger, Danthai Boonma and Honey Baisoya on the board and missed the cut by two.

The episode further goes on to explore Brooks Koepka’s spiral. The golfer is seen using the f-word rather frequently throughout the episode. He also admits to thinking about the game even at home. The golfer, who has won four Majors from 2017 to 2019, is seen obsessing over his four-year dry patch.

In a raw and unfiltered moment, Koepka admits winning is like ’life and death' to him.

The current LIV golfer said:

“Winning is an addiction, man. Let’s just say it’s life and death. That’s how I think of it… When I was playing my best, I’m not a big stats guy, but I know I was the best inside 8 feet during that whole stretch. And now, I’m probably the worst.”

He added:

“When you have it, you feel like you’re never gonna lose it. And when you don’t have it, you feel like you’re never gonna get it. And that’s kind of how I feel on the greens right now.”
Anyone checking in on Brooks?

My man pouring his heart out on Full Swing and Jenna just grinning away for the cameras like he isn’t dying inside.

I guess he does have $70 million reasons to not be upset but damn that was hard to watch.

Koepka goes on to showcase his vulnerable side in the episode as he speaks about the empty spots in his trophy case. Opening up to his mom, Denise, he gave a tour of his trophy case and stated that there is a spot right in the center for his Masters trophy.

He said:

“Just to remind myself that there’s plenty more to win. I’d pay back every dollar in this game just to have that feeling again for another hour.”

Koepka states that he is “embarrassed” to miss the cut at Augusta National and that his trophy spot will collect dust for another year. It’s pertinent to note that the comments were made by the golfer just months ahead of his controversial move to LIV Golf.
