McIlroy to clear up caddie situation amid reports of Fitzgerald sacking

Rory McIlroy will not comment on reports that he has sacked his long-time caddie JP Fitzgerald until a press conference on Wednesday.
The four-time major champion is said to have brought his nine-year relationship with Fitzgerald to an end.
McIlroy has enjoyed huge success with his fellow Irishman on the bag, but it emerged on Monday that he could have a new caddie at the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational this week.
When contacted by Omnisport, a spokesman for the world number four stated that he will confirm the situation when he speaks to the media on the eve of the PGA Tour event at Firestone Country Club in Ohio.
Fitzgerald spurred McIlroy on after a dreadful start in The Open by asking his struggling compatriot: "You're Rory McIlroy, what the f*** are you doing?"
It appears the major at Royal Birkdale could be the last we see of Fitzgerald working alongside McIlroy.
