$110M-worth star was ‘surprised’ by Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup captaincy
Scottie Scheffler opened up about Keegan Bradley's Ryder Cup captaincy on an episode of Golf Subpar in which he discussed the upcoming edition with the hosts, Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz. He enjoyed tremendous success on the PGA Tour in 2024 and is second on the list of auto-qualified players for the biennial event's Team USA. Bradley is the team captain for the 2025 edition.
Speaking about the captain, Scheffler, who has a net worth of $110 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, said (at 30:32):
"I was definitely a bit surprised. But the more I thought about it I was just getting fired up. I think he's going to be awesome. Talking to him about the Ryder Cup just catching up with him about it, he's going to be a great Captain, he's going to be passionate, he's going to make sure that we're in a position to succeed and go out there and play well and I'm excited. I think he's going to do a great job."
Bradley has been playing professionally since 2008. He has won 12 professional events, including seven on the PGA Tour. He has played in the Ryder Cup twice, in 2012 and 2014.
The biennial tournament alternates between Europe and the USA. The last edition was held in Europe and the American team was defeated.
Scottie Scheffler on playing at the Ryder Cup - "I'm excited to get back on home turf"
Scottie Scheffler reflected on playing in the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York on Golf Subpar. He was part of the team in 2023 and is excited to play on home soil in the upcoming edition. He said (at 29:33):
"There's a reason it's hard to win on foreign turf in the Ryder Cup. It's challenging but I'm excited to get back on home turf and get another shot at those guys. Obviously, Rome did not end the way we were hoping it would end. But the Europeans, they played great and it's one of those weeks where you just take your hat off and shake hands.
I'm looking forward to Bethpage. Hopefully, the fans will be respectful to the guys but at the end of the day we'll see how it goes. Hopefully, I don't have to step in too much if things get out of hand but hopefully, it'll be a good environment, they'll be cheering loud for us and they don't cross the line when it comes to the European players."
Scheffler enjoyed a phenomenal season on the PGA Tour in 2024, winning seven events. He won the Masters and The Players Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, The Memorial Tournament, and the Tour Championship. He also won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
