2016 Olympic gold medalist Justin Rose makes supportive gesture for Great Britain’s women’s golf team

2016 Olympics gold medalist Justin Rose has made a supportive gesture for Great Britain's women's golf team ahead of the event. The women's golf event will start on Wednesday, August 7 at Le Golf National.

Rose is all set for PGA Tour action with the Wyndham Championship, which kicks off on Thursday, August 8 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. This is his first tournament in three weeks since his runner-up finish at the Open Championship.

On Tuesday, August 6, Justin Rose shared a message for Charley Hull and Georgia Hall, who are representing Great Britain at the 2024 Olympics women's golf event.

"Let’s go Team GB," he wrote.

Eight years ago, Rose created history by becoming the first golf medalist at the golf event at the Olympics in over 100 years. The game was reintroduced at the Olympics for the first time since 1904. He shot 16 under in the Rio Olympics to beat Henrik Stenson of Sweden by two strokes.

Last week, Tommy Fleetwood joined Justin Rose as a second British medalist in Olympic golf. Fleetwood had a 36-hole lead at Le Golf National but eventually aggregated at 18-under, one stroke behind Scottie Scheffler to finish runner-up.

When will Justin Rose tee off at the Wyndham Championship?

Justin Rose is grouped with Will Zalatoris and Jordan Spieth for the opening round of the Wyndham Championship. The trio will tee off on Thursday at 7:23 am ET from the first hole.

The Wyndham Championship will be a 156-player field, with many top names competing at the regular season's last event. Lucas Glover is the defending champion at the Sedgefield Country Club.

Besides competing for a purse size of $7.9 million, the players also have a FedEx Cup spot in sight. For the uninitiated, only the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings will qualify for the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

While many players are looking to seal their spot for the FedEx Cup playoff at the Sedgefield, Rose is comfortably inside the top 40 of the standings. The Englishman has made 11 cuts in 17 starts this season, with two top-ten finishes.

Last month, Rose had an incredible run at the Open Championship, where he entered the event via qualifying but eventually finished as a joint runner-up at Royal Troon. His other top ten of the season was a T6 finish at the PGA Championship.
