2023 Valero Texas Open: List of players looking to earn a spot in The Masters
The Valero Texas Open is set to begin this week. The tournament will take place from March 30 to April 2 at the TPC San Antonio Oaks Course in Texas.
For certain players, the tournament is their final chance to qualify for the 2023 Masters, which commences on April 6.
Here's a look at some of the names who will be eying a spot in the upcoming Masters.
Matt Wallace
Matt Wallace tasted victory on the PGA Tour this Sunday at the Corales Puntacana Championship. But it wasn't enough for him to get a spot at Augusta National as it was held in the same week as the WGC-Dell Technologies Matchplay.
Nico Echavarria
Nico Echavarria is in a similar situation to Wallace as he won the Puerto Rico Open, which was held opposite the Arnold Palmer Invitational last month.
Rickie Fowler
Rickie Fowler has been consistent this season but is yet to win a title. Last week he needed to reach the quarterfinals of the WGC-Dell Technologies Matchplay to qualify for the Masters but suffered a group-stage exit
JJ Spaun
JJ Spaun is the defending champion at the Valero Texas Open and will need a title victory to earn a spot at Augusta National.
Nicolai Hojgaard
Nicolai Hojgaard finished runner-up in the Corales Puntacana Championship but he needs a win at the TPC San Antonio Oaks Course to secure his berth in the first major of the season.
