Robert MacIntyre started the fourth and decisive round in second place, two shots behind leader Ludvig Åberg. However, the Swede had a forgettable final round (one birdie and four bogeys, +3), which MacIntyre took advantage of.

Adam Scott took the lead at the Genesis Scottish Open with Åberg's fall. MacIntyre fought hard to stay close to the Australian. After a spectacular eagle on the 16th, the Scot took a share of the lead. Adam parred his final two holes to leave the decision in MacIntyre's hands. MacIntyre birdied the 18th to claim his second PGA Tour title in six weeks.

MacIntyre is only the third Scot to win the National Open. No other Scot has won since Colin Montgomerie in 1999.
