Thompson's performance at the John Deere Classic included one eagle, 30 birdies, and only four bogeys. During the front nine of the fourth round, he posted a score of 6 under 29, another PGA Tour record (shared with Rory McIlroy).
Second place was taken by rookie Michael Thorbjornsen, who just joined the tour as the PGA Tour University winner. He was joined by amateur Luke Clanton in his second consecutive top-10 at this level, as well as veteran CT Pan.
The top-ranked golfer in the field and defending champion, Sepp Straka, finished T61, while Jordan Spieth was placed T26.
