2024 Presidents Cup US Team power rankings: Scottie Scheffler shines over Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa
The Presidents Cup commences this weekend. 2024's iconic international competition will pit teams from the United States and the rest of the world (sans Europe since they play the Ryder Cup) against each other. Both teams are full of stars, but the Americans look especially dominant. Here are the power rankings for the team ahead of the competition.
2024 Presidents Cup Power Rankings: USA Edition
Scottie Scheffler
It shouldn't be a surprise that Scottie Scheffler leads the American rankings. He is the best golfer in the world, so it wouldn't matter what the criteria was. Scheffler is on top and he looks poised to continue his truly historic season with yet another win, this time as a member of the USA Presidents Cup team.
Xander Schauffele
If not for Scheffler, Xander Schauffele would be the top-ranked player. He also had a historic season, winning his first two Majors: the PGA Championship and Open Championship. He is also in excellent form and creates a duo with Scheffler that the international side just can't match up to.
Collin Morikawa
Collin Morikawa didn't have the success that the above two golfers had, but he is a veteran of two Ryder Cups and one Presidents Cup. He also ranks fourth in the world right now, which is higher than anyone on the international side. He should be a key contributor to the Americans.
Wyndham Clark
Wyndham Clark picked a good time to really come into his own. Over the last two years, Clark has broken out with his first PGA Tour win, at a Signature Event in the Wells Fargo Championship no less, and a win at the 2023 US Open. He also won an event in 2024, and he did more than enough to cement himself as a top player for the USA this weekend.
Patrick Cantlay
Patrick Cantlay is one of just four golfers in the OWGR top 10 to be part of the Presidents Cup this year. He didn't record a single win this year, but he had four top-10 finishes and was obviously more than good enough to automatically qualify for the event.
Sahith Theegala
Sahith Theegala is currently the 11th-ranked golfer in the entire world, making him a force to be reckoned with during this tournament. It speaks to how good the American side is that he is so highly ranked but only barely qualified automatically by Presidents Cup points.
Keegan Bradley
Keegan Bradley vaulted up the standings and virtually into the Cup this weekend by the strength of his win at the BMW Championship earlier this year. It was a huge win and it forced captain Jim Furyk to pick him. It also vaulted him into the 13th spot on the OWGR, which is one of the best of this American team.
The Rest
The rest of the American team is as follows: Russell Henley (14th in OWGR), Sam Burns (19th), Brian Harman (22), Tony Finau (23), and Max Homa (25). All of the American team is inside the OWGR top 25 right now.
