$2M golf star Paige Spiranac reveals her biggest pet peeve in golf
Paige Spiranac, a former professional golfer turned content creator, has been in and around the sport of golf for a very long time. She briefly played professionally after a sterling college career, before establishing her social media presence. She now has a $2 million net worth (via Celebrity Net Worth), but she's still very well-versed in golf.
When Golf Digest posed the question of the biggest pet peeve in golf to its followers, Spiranac was quick to respond with her own: dress codes. Known for her unorthodox style on the golf course, Spiranac doesn't usually wear the typical attire for golf.
This is an idea she has long subscribed to.
"I was a competitive gymnast before I switched over to golf. And so, I was so comfortable being in leotards and when I started playing golf I didn't have enough money to go out and buy a whole new golf appropriate wardrobe. So I would often wear athletic wear that I just had in my closet and that was leggings and tank tops," Paige Spiranac said in September 2024 via The Daily Mail.
She didn't start out wearing the traditional golf attire of long pants and polos, but instead opted for a more comfortable, athletic outfit. Spiranac went so far as to say that people might be "scared to get into the game of golf because it can be very stuffy" and "not very welcoming" at times.
The former LPGA Tour standout said players might be too worried about wearing the right clothes, but that they "can still respect the game and uphold the tradition" without adhering to the strict dress code, one of her biggest pet peeves.
Paige Spiranac opened up on subscriber content
Takes like the one above can be seen all over Paige Spiranac's social media presence. On any platform, she is apt to give her two cents on golf and other sports. It's one thing her followers come to her for.
Recently, the former pro golfer took that up a notch with paid social media. Passes is a subscriber-based platform that Spiranac feels allows her to monetize her social media presence in a way X, YouTube, and Instagram do not.
Spiranac opened up on her venture via FOX News in July 2024:
"I was looking around at a bunch of different sites and as soon as I found Passes, I was like, yes, this is everything that I’ve wanted and so much more."
She also praised the team at Passes for supporting her ideas, which she feels have so far paid off:
"There was just so much that I could do that I knew immediately that this was the right place for me. The entire team over at Passes, they think so big and any time I come to them with a crazy idea, they’re like, ‘Yeah, I think we could do that.’"
The golfer revealed that a lot of her ideas that wouldn't go over as well on other social media, such as a hot dog-eating contest, have worked wonders on Passes.
