$300M-worth LIV Golfer’s 89-year-old dad mows the lawn, star playfully avoids lending a hand
LIV golfer Phil Mickelson spent his Sunday with family. The American golfer is currently away from the greens as he has no scheduled events. The league's third season concluded with its finale a few weeks ago, allowing players to enjoy some time off.

The LIV Golfer recently shared a video of his father, Phil Mickelson Sr., mowing the grass while he watched and playfully avoided helping him. In the 12-second clip, the six-time Major winner introduces his father, saying:
"There is my dad, 89 years old and mowing the lawn. I should probably go help him. Looks like he got it under control."
Mickelson shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter), with the caption:
"If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it."
Mickelson currently competes in LIV Golf since joining the circuit in 2022. He has participated in three seasons so far. At the recently concluded LIV Golf season, the HyFlyers captain competed in 14 events, finishing the season in 46th place in the standings. LIV Golfer Phil Mickelson’s father on their bond - "He's always a lot of fun"
In 2020, Phil Mickelson celebrated his 50th birthday, and on this special occasion, his family members shared heartfelt messages about the golfer. His father, Phil Mickelson Sr., spoke about their bond, saying (via ESPN):
"It doesn't seem like he could be 50. He doesn't seem 50 to us, for sure. But he's a young guy at heart. He's always a lot of fun to be around and do things with. And if you are playing some sort of game with him, you don't want to lose because you'll hear about it.''
Mickelson and his father, a Navy and later a commercial pilot, enjoy playing golf together. Mickelson learned to play golf left-handed by mirroring his father, who played right-handed. They played to hone their skills several times a week during his childhood.
Mickelson started playing golf professionally in 1992 and emerged as one of the world's most successful golfers. He has won 57 professional tournaments so far, 45 of them on the PGA Tour. In addition, he has won six Majors in his career, the 2021 PGA Championship being the last. He became the oldest golfer to win a Major that year at 50 years, 11 months, and 7 days.
