5 big-name golfers who underperformed at the 2024 RSM Classic ft. Matt Wallace
The 2024 RSM Classic concluded on Sunday (Nov. 24) with Maverick McNealy claiming his first PGA Tour title at the event. He shot a 2-under 68 to finish at 16-under, securing a one-shot victory over Luke Clanton, Nico Echavarria and Daniel Berger.

#1 Davis Thompson

- Result: T60
Davis Thompson had the best odds of +1800 entering into the 2024 RSM Classic, as per BetMGM. He scored 70, 71, 67 and 72 in the four rounds to finish 2-under this week. He tied for 60th with Harris English, William McGirt and Russell Knox. Thompson came to the tournament after a T5 finish at the Shriners Children's Open but failed to replicate his performance.
#2 Harris English

Harris English was one of the top 10 favourites at the Sea Island Golf Club with odds of +3300 as per BetMGM. Before coming to the tournament, he had made two top-10 finishes and three top-15 finishes in the last three starts.
However, he failed to perform to his potential and tied for 60th after scores of 67, 72, 69 and 72 in the four rounds.

Wallace was another player who would be disappointed with his performance this week. After being one of the favourites, he tied for 53rd with Adam Svennson, Garrick Higgo, Marcus Byrd, Adam Hadwin, Adam Schenk and Kevin Chappell. He had an aggregate score of 3-under 279 in the four rounds.

Sam Stevens entered the 2024 RSM Classic fresh off a T6 finish at the World Wide Technology Championship a couple of weeks ago and had odds of +5500 as per BetMGM. However, he couldn't replicate the success here and finished the tournament with a score of 6-under 276. Stevens tied for 42nd with the likes of Kevin Tway and Jonathan Byrd.

Doug Ghim was also among the top favourites at the Sea Island Golf Club. Coming to the tournament, he performed splendidly in the FedExCup Fall events. He was a runner-up at the Shriners Children's Open. Further, he had four top-30 finishes in the last eight events and had odds of +4000 as per BetMGM. He tied for 42nd after finishing with a score of 6-under 276.
