5 big names who missed out on a 2025 PGA Tour card ft Wesley Bryan

The final 2025 PGA Tour roster is out after the conclusion of the RSM Classic. While the upcoming season will see many new faces in tournaments, several notable players won't be a part of the action as they missed out on the 2025 PGA Tour card.

The PGA Tour had set a limit of 125 golfers eligible to play in the main season. Slots were offered to the top 10 in the Race to Dubai standings, exempting those already qualified. Golfers such as Rasmus Hojgaard, Thriston Lawrence, Paul Waring, and Jesper Svensson, among others from the European circuit, earned a dual card and will be seen in the upcoming PGA Tour season.

However, several known faces will be missing on the Tour next year as they couldn't crack the top 125. While they can still try to qualify for the 2026 season, the PGA Tour will make the roster even tighter with only 100 fully exempt spots up for grabs.

In 2016, US golfer Jimmy Walker contracted Lyme disease, and the next few years marked a story of struggle for him. After years of fighting against the physical effects of the disease, he decided to retire from the sport in 2022. It was only because he was moved into the top 50 of the career money exemption list, after the defection of golfers from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf, that Walker decided to continue competing.

However, it hasn't been an easy road for him. During his battle with Lyme disease, he lost his PGA Tour card. This year, he was irregular in the Fall series tournaments and spent the majority of the Fall season playing in the European circuit. The 45-year-old seemed to have found his footing as he finished in the top 15 of the Irish Open and the Spanish Open this year. But his absence from PGA Tour meets also meant that he won't be getting back his card this year.

4) Francesco Molinari

Francesco Molinari is a Ryder Cup legend, having played the biennial tournament thrice for Europe. After a successful 2018 season, where he won the Open Championship as well as the BMW PGA Championship, the Italian golfer found himself in deep trouble at the 2019 Masters. Several of his shots landed in the water. Since then, he has been struggling with his form, blaming wrong decisions on his part for the issues.

However, fans could see a flicker of his previous brilliance when he nailed a hole-in-one to make the cut at the 2024 US Open. The 42-year-old registered 15 starts this year but could never finish within the top 10. His PGA Tour card eligibility ranking currently is outside the top 190.

3) Zac Blair

US golfer Zac Blair made his return to the 2024 US Open, marking his third appearance at the Major in ten years. He tied for T26. He would have hoped to secure a PGA Tour card this season but found himself in possibly the most painful spot as he finished 126th in the rankings.

He fell just one place short of securing his 2025 PGA Tour card. The 34-year-old had entered the week standing 123rd. Blair was grouped with Joel Dahmen at the RSM Classic but finished one shot behind him, which eventually cost him his card. Dahmen went on to place 124th, with Sam Ryder finishing 125th in the PGA Tour card eligibility standings.

2) Vincent Norrman

Swedish golfer Vincent Norrman had the best World Amateur Ranking of 4th. He turned pro in June 2021 and produced spectacular performances, jumping up the OWGR ranks. His first professional win came at the 2023 Barbosal Championship. The young star followed it with a victory at the 2023 Irish Open.

These wins helped him stand 69th in the FedEx rankings, and he became one of the breakout stars of 2023. However, the 26-year-old couldn't replicate a similar form this year as he managed to make only eight cuts, pushing him down the PGA Tour card eligibility leaderboard. He even missed the weekend cut at the 2024 Irish Open, losing his chance to retain the title.

YouTube star Wesley Bryan has struggled with his performances this year. In the 17 starts that he made this season, he only made the cut in eight. He would have had to win the RSM Classic to secure a full exemption for the 2025 PGA Tour season. However, that didn't happen, and he missed the cut.

He was grouped with Joel Dahmen at the event, and he finished one shot behind him, much like Zac Blair. Before the tournament, he had been hanging on the very edge at 125th. However, after being cut, he went down three places. Currently, he ranks 128th in the PGA Tour card eligibility standings. The 34-year-old had reached the sudden-death playoff at the inaugural 2024 Creator Classic but lost out to Luke Kwon.
