Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen showed his excitement to see Bryson DeChambeau reportedly playing in India and called him a "golf legend." The American golfer is all set to tee up in the yet-to-be-announced International Series in India.
Although the details of the tournament are yet to be revealed, it was reported by golf journalist Joy Chakravarty that DeChambeau, who has a net worth of $60 million (as per Celebrity Net Worth), might attend the event.
Chakravarty shared the news about the arrival of the 2020 U.S. Open winner in India for the upcoming event on his X account, writing:
"The most popular, and intriguing, golfer in the world - @b_dechambeau - is a near certainty to become the first reigning major champion to tee up in India!"
Intriguingly, Pietersen also shared his excitement to witness DeChambeau playing in India. He jumped into the comment section and wrote:
"Excellent. He’s a legend of a guy! India will welcome him with open arms! I’m in India then for the IND/ENG series. Might pop in…"
According to the Hindustan Times, several LIV golfers are expected to attend the International Series India, including LIV Golf’s Crushers GC, whose captain is Bryson DeChambeau. The team features Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri, along with English golfer Paul Casey and American golfer Charles Howell III.
Bryson DeChambeau opened up about attending the event, in an interview with the aforementioned media outlet, during the concluding event of the third season of LIV Golf in Dallas. He said, via Hindustan Times:
“I am aware that Baan (Anirban Lahiri) is going to be involved and we have had a few talks about it. It will be a very important week for him. I will support him fully, and if everything works out, I am extremely excited about the opportunity to play in India. I have never been there, but it’s a country that has fascinated me. I have always loved being a global player and I greatly enjoy playing in as many countries as possible.”
DeChambeau has been on a break since the completion of LIV Golf a few weeks ago.
LIV Golfer Bryson DeChambeau to face PGA Tour rivals in the upcoming edition of The Match
DeChambeau last competed at the LIV Golf Team Championship in Dallas and has since been away from the greens. However, in the last few weeks, he has been active on social media, especially on his YouTube channel, sharing golf-related videos.
DeChambeau is now gearing up to compete in the upcoming edition of The Match. This year’s December edition, named The Showdown, will feature PGA Tour players facing off against LIV golfers.
For the tournament, the two-time major winner Bryson DeChambeau will team up with fellow LIV player Brooks Koepka to play against World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and four-time major winner Rory McIlroy. The tournament will take place on December 17.
DeChambeau shared the details of the event on his X (formerly Twitter) account earlier this month on October 20. He wrote:
"It’s official, Brooks and I will be taking on Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlory in a 18 hole match on December 17th. This is going to be one for the ages!"
Meanwhile, on the greens, this year has been a success for Bryson DeChambeau. He won his second major title at the U.S. Open and performed well in LIV Golf events. Although he did not win any tournament on the Saudi circuit in 2024, he recorded some strong finishes, including T4 at Jeddah, T6 in Hong Kong, T7 in Miami, T3 in Nashville, ninth in Andalucía, and T6 in Chicago.
