$65 million NFL icon's company to become official beer partner for LIV Golf Dallas
The LIV Golf Dallas event is all set to kickstart on September 20 at the Maridoe Golf Club. Recently, it was announced that former NFL icon Troy Aikman's beer company 'Eight' has become the official beer partner for the match.
Interestingly, Aikman was a part of the Dallas Cowboys for almost 12 years in the NFL, and his beer company will now be partnering with an event held in the city that he now calls home. The 57-year-old currently has a $65 million net worth and launched Eight in 2022. The legendary quarterback took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the news of the new partnership to the fans.
The LIV Golf Dallas event will see the 13 teams fight it out to become the Team Champions for the season. It will be the final stop of the tour and LIV Golf seems to be fully prepared to make it the most memorable, given their new partnership with Aikman's Eight. Whether this partnership will continue in the next season or not hasn't been announced. But for now, the beer company has joined Caddy Cocktails as a beverage partner for the Saudi-backed league.
Which team is leading the standings going into the LIV Golf Dallas?
The team standings for the LIV Golf Dallas event were finalized last week after the Individual Championship in Chicago.
Bryson DeChambeau's Crushers GC is topping the leaderboard with 208.50 points. The team has a phenomenal history in the league ever since its inception. It has placed second in 2022 and won in 2023. So this year, DeChambeau would want to keep with this iconic legacy.
Legion XIII is second behind Crushers GC with 200 points. The team has had a significant impact in its debut year on the tour, much like the captain, Jon Rahm himself. The Spaniard overtook Joaquin Niemann just in time for the Individual Championship in Chicago and went on to become the Individual Champion of the 2024 season by winning the event. He would definitely want to emulate a similar story for his team at LIV Golf Dallas.
Cameron Smith's Ripper GC is third in the standings with 151 points. The team has shown a remarkable improvement in the past season. Ripper GC debuted in 2023 and placed 7th. Smith would want to end the team's campaign this year on a high note. The prize purse for LIV Golf Dallas is $50 million, with the winning team's share being a staggering $14 million.
