$6M-worth US player defends his teammates amid ‘cussing’ controversy at Presidents Cup – “Some of it was extreme”

The 2024 Presidents Cup, which was won by Team USA, witnessed some intense moments during Round 3, which took place on Saturday. After the round finished, International Team's Tom Kim claimed that he heard someone from the American Team cussing at him and Si Woo Kim.

Recently, the $6m worth (according to Celebrity Net Worth) Wyndham Clark, who played a pivotal role at the 2024 Presidents Cup, detailed the incident. In a conversation with Chris Powers, Clark mentioned there was frustration in his and Keegan Bradley's defeat to Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim. He said:

"We witnessed them making tons of putts on us and playing unbelievable and then obviously witnessed all of the celebrations that they were doing. And then just some of the other antics that maybe people weren’t seeing on TV, that obviously just kind of gets you to where you’re a little frustrated because some of it was extreme, in my opinion.”

Further, Clark, who was rested in the afternoon session, mentioned that the cussing was only going on within the American Team. This incident was just one of the many instances, where there was tension at the event.

Another intense moment happened between the World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim. On Thursday, during the fourball match, Kim and his partner Sungjae Im walked away before Scheffler could finish making a putt on the 8th hole, which drew criticism from the golf community.

Wyndham Clark clarified why he mocked Si Woo Kim's famous Stephen Curry celebration at the Presidents Cup

Another highlight of the 2024 Presidents Cup came on Saturday when Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim faced Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay in a foursome match. During this, Woo Kim produced a brilliant chip-in birdie on the 16th hole to tie the game.

Kim followed this birdie up by using Stephen Curry's famous "night night celebration." However, when Team USA eventually won the match on the 18th hole, Clark was seen mocking Kim's celebration.

In the same interview as above, Clark explained why he mocked Woo Kim's celebration. He said:

“He did that right in front of Tony Finau and I," said Clark. "And we looked at each other. We’re like, 'it’s a tight ball game. I don’t understand why you would do that?' And then we go to 18, obviously, and we both were sitting there and we’re like, ‘Man, if we win this hole, we’re for sure giving them - we’re putting it right back in their face'."

On the day when Clark mocked Woo Kim's celebration, he was criticized by International Team member Byeong Hun An on X. However, Hun An later deleted the tweet, citing he wanted to be a better person.
