Aaron Cockerill 'excited' for his maiden DP World Tour playoffs outing
Aaron Cockerill expressed his exaltation on social media after qualifying for the DP World Tour playoffs. Cockerill has steadily grown on the European Tour through the years, and the golfer finally made it to the top 70 of the Race to Dubai rankings to qualify for the European Tour playoffs.
Cockerill’s Race to Dubai ranking was 261 in 2019. He moved to 118 in 2020 and then 152 in 2021. Next, he became the 107th-ranked golfer in 2022 and 76th in 2023. Currently, he sits in 47th place on the Race to Dubai rankings and he's qualified for his maiden appearance at the European Tour playoffs.
After qualifying for the playoffs, Cockerill shared a post on his X handle, writing:
“Very excited this week to be playing in the playoffs for this first time on the @DPWorldTour Happy to have my family here and getting the opportunity to play so close to home. Amazing course and conditions for us at @YasLinksGC.”
Cockerill is among the top 70 to play at the European Tour playoffs’ first event, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Following that, the top 50 will play at the DP World Tour Championship.

Aaron Cockerill had six top-20 finishes on the DP World Tour, including a T4 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, a T9 at the Amgen Irish Open, and a T6 at the Bahrain Championship.
