Aaron Rai learns his lesson from last week's heartbreak, eyes redemption at the John Deere Classic- "There were so many more positives than negatives"

Aaron Rai said that although he was frustrated with last week's heartbreak at Detroit, there were more positives than negatives. He added there were lessons to learn from the loss.

Aaron Rai had a heartbreak at the Rocket Mortgage Classic as he lost the tournament after having 54 54-hole lead. However, he has once again found himself in the lead this week after two rounds at the John Deere Classic. He is aggregating at 14-under after shooting 63 on Friday, July 5.

Speaking at the post-round interview, the Englishman reflected on his last week's loss at TPC Deere Run. He said that the biggest positive from the Sunday was that he hung pretty well. He felt he could do better in middle holes and got a little impatient after dropping a few shots.

"I think overall, from Sunday, from the whole of last week, there were so many more positives than negatives," he said as per ASAP Sports. "With the negatives there is always a few lessons in there, which is great. We knew we were playing some good golf."
"It's good to experience that," he added. "I think there is always a fine balance between trying to want it a little bit too much to a point where it's easy to get in the way of yourself and in the way of performance.

He added that experiencing the fight last week gave him confidence and helped in building another layer to the game as well as to the mental side.

"So I think those are the biggest positives to take from an experience like that. Whether that translates into this week or in it the future, ultimately makes you a better player," he concluded.
