"Always have the same divot tool" - Scottie Scheffler reveals his 'superstitious routine' ahead of MastersĀ
Scottie Scheffler gave a short interview on the PGA Tour ahead of the 2023 Masters, where he answered some of the fun questions. The World No.1 golfer revealed the superstition that he follows:
"I'm not very superstitious at all, but for some reason, I always have the same divot tool, and I have the same ball marker. I don't know why. I started using a Dallas Cowboys coin during COVID when we played at home. And then I have a divot tool from the Ryder Cup last year, just 'cause it's a good divot tool."
On the question of favorite slang, Scheffler said he didn't have a preferred one but named a few that he has heard and the one his caddie uses often.
"Fried egg's definitely not my favorite. I hate fried egg lies... Duck hook? That one's kind of funny. Teddy, my caddie, always says that he's got the quack hooks, which I think is kind of a funny slang term. I don't entirely know what it means."
The one thing Scheffler wished he knew before turning pro was to maintain his schedule on the Tour.
"I think I learned a lot in my first year on the Korn Ferry Tour, just kind of learning, you know, what kind of helps me play my best throughout the week. And that's something that, a skill that I didn't have in college just 'cause the tournament weeks look so much different."
The last question was about the most unexpected things one would find in his bag. As per Scheffler, his bag has a lot of trash.
"There's usually a lot of trash in there. When I come from home, I don't really take care of the inside of the bag too much. So we're kind of, do a little clean out before every event. So there's usually just some stuff that that I didn't even know was in there that's kind of been in there for a few weeks, and I don't know, practicing it kind of just shows up."
