Amanda Balionis' bold US Open prediction after lauding Canadian Open’s ‘worthy Champion’ Ryan Fox
The RBC Canadian Open ended on Sunday with Ryan Fox lifting the trophy. The Kiwi golfer beat Sam Burns in an exciting playoff at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley to take the win. Amanda Balionis was quick to laud the 38-year-old pro for his outing, dubbing him a “worthy champion.” However, she went on to make a bold US Open prediction on runner-up Sam Burns.
Balionis, who made a special social media post on the Canadian event, said Burns is “playing out of his mind right now.” She heaped praise on the 28-year-old Louisiana State University alum by stating she’d ‘snag him early’ as a top US Open 2025 pick. The statement was made while sharing a carousel of pictures from the weekend that included a snap of her interview with the five-time PGA Tour winner.
Making an early pick for the upcoming US Open at Oakmont, Amanda Balionis wrote on Instagram:
“Sam Burns is playing out of his mind right now. Once again the LSU talent put himself in the mix and if I’m you, I’m snagging him early for any US Open pools you might be in.”
This came after she lauded the Canadian crowd and event champ Ryan Fox.
She added:
“Canada? You never disappoint. Today was another memorable final round with a very worthy Champion. It was so fun to watch Ryan Fox and Sam Burns battle it out for four playoff holes in front of HUGE crowds that never even thought about leaving until a winner was crowned. Fox will tell you it took him longer than expected to settle in here on the PGA Tour, but after a dramatic win a month ago, the Kiwi is playing free and is now a multiple time winner.”
Can Sam Burns win the US Open 2025?
Ryan Fox beat Sam Burns at a fourth play-off hole to clinch the win at the Canadian Open. The Kiwi golfer sank a birdie at the 18th hole of his fourth round to set up a play-off against Burns. The latter’s stunning eight-under-par round of 62 at TPC Toronto fell short as Fox's heroics on the last hole earned him the win with a round of 66. However, Burns looks in form for the upcoming US Open 2025.
According to SportsLine, the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge winner enters the major championship with 500-1 odds. He sits 13th on the odds list alongside Tyrrell Hatton, Min Woo Lee, Justin Rose, Tony Finau and Cam Smith. It is pertinent to note that Burns has managed three top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour so far, including a T5 at The CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
He came into the Toronto event on the back of a T19 finish at the PGA Championship and a T12 at The Memorial Tournament. Notably, he had a forgettable T46 finish at the Masters.
