Amanda Balionis' charity work
Amanda Balionis has her own charitable initiative that combines her love of golf and her love of dogs. It is Puppies and Golf, an organization dedicated to the welfare of dogs.
Puppies and Golf raises funds to provide grants to families, shelters and dog rescues. It also works to connect U.S. military veterans in need of assistance with dogs in need of adoption.
The organization's goal is to raise $500,000 by 2024. Its primary method of fundraising is through golf outings. Two have recently been held, one in Orange County and the other in San Diego. Puppies and Golf has another event scheduled for September 11 in Nashville.
Balionis got the idea for Puppies and Golf from the K9s for Warriors Foundation. This is an entity that caters to military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma by providing highly trained service dogs.
The current CBS Sports reporter worked with K9s for Warriors while living in Florida and working as a PGA Tour host. After moving to San Diego to work with Callaway, she conceived and founded Puppies and Golf.
Balionis worked with the PGA Tour from 2011 to 2016, after which she accepted a position with Callaway Golf as an in-house reporter. In 2017, she joined CBS Sports to cover golf and football.
