Analyst accuses Bryson DeChambeau of being 'disinterested' in LIV Golf, Brandel Chamblee dubs it a 'part-time job' for the US Open champion

Golf analyst Paul McGinley has said Bryson DeChambeau doesn't seem to care much about his results in the LIV Golf League. During a recent coverage for The Open Championship, experts discussed DeChambeau and noted that his interest in golf has declined.

McGinley highlighted that since joining the Saudi-backed circuit, DeChambeau has not played in many tournaments to compete in the Majors.

Bryson DeChambeau won a Major in 2024 and is exempted to compete in all four Majors for at least five years. He is banned from competing on the PGA Tour, and LIV Golf has limited 14 events in a season. Even after playing in only a handful of tournaments, DeChambeau easily makes it to the Majors. He has performed well in the Majors this season.

"He doens't have to play reps comparatively to 99.9 percent of others players have to do. He can go directly from the lab , allowed to competing in Major Championships. I don't think he is that much interested in how he plays in LIV. Looks like it's way...," McGinley said (via journalist Christopher Powers of Golf Digest).

At this point, Brandel Chamblee interjected, saying:

"It's a part time job. LIV is a part-time job."
"The real job is being in a lab," McGinley added.

Bryson DeChambeau plays on the LIV Golf and will join this week's Major field. He is a strong contender to win, considering his remarkable performances throughout the season, especially in the Majors.

Bryson DeChambeau's performances at Majors in 2024

Although Paul McGinley said Bryson DeChambeau is not too serious about playing golf, the 30-year-old American has been fabulous in Majors in 2024. He has competed in three Majors so far and has impressed with his golf gear.

At the Masters, DeChambeau shot rounds of 65, 73, 75, and 73 to secure sixth place on the leaderboard. He was also amazing at the PGA Championship, where he finished as the runner-up to Xander Schauffele. He shot rounds of 68, 65, 67, and 64.

Next, he played at the US Open and had a tough competition with Rory McIlroy but still managed to seize the victory, adding a second Major title to his accolades.

Besides Majors, Bryson DeChambeau has also fared well in LIV Golf events. This season, he played in nine tournaments on the breakaway circuit and recorded six top-10 finishes. His best performance of the season came at the Nashville event, where he finished in third place.

According to CBS Sports, with +1400 odds, DeChambeau is one of the favorites to win this week at Royal Troon.
