Andre Metzger, Brett White, and Dalton Ward on to 2023 WM Phoenix Open through Monday qualifier

Andre Metzger of Scottsdale, Brett White of Houston, and Dalton Ward of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, made it through the WM Phoenix Open qualifier and will be in action at TPC Scottsdale for the coveted trophy.

Metzger hit the round of the day at Pine Course. He shot a bogey-free 65 with birdies at the 14th, 16th and 17th holes. White and Ward shot 66 and were tied for second place. White pulled off eight birdies while Ward hit six birdies in a bogey-free outing.

While the top three advance through the qualifier, a playoff is usually required to decide things given the number of golfers competing. Thus, it came as a surprise that a playoff wasn't needed on Monday.

The WM Phoenix Open will take place from February 9 to 12, 2023. It is touted to be the biggest event of the 2023 PGA Tour season.

Sudarshan Yellamaraju, Nicolo Galletti, Danny Guise, Austen Truslow, Cole Hammer, and Michael Gligic all shot 67s but fell one shot short of forcing a playoff. After shooting 68s, Derek Oland, Carson Schaake, Aaron Baddeley, and Harry Hall were tied for 10th.

DJ Trahan T-14 (69), Parker Mclachlin T-23 (70), and Bo Van Pelt T-23 (70) were other notable performers who missed out on the WM Phoenix Open.

The 2023 Phoenix Open will see an exciting line-up tee off on February 9 at the TPC Scottsdale - Stadium course. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler will return to protect his title.

However, he will be met with some bitter competition from reigning World No. 1 Rory McIlroy and the most in-form player on the PGA Tour, Jon Rahm.

They will be joined by Matt Fitzpatrick, Xander Schauffele, Tommy Fleetwood, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas, Si Woo Kim, Billy Horschel, Viktor Hovland, Jordan Spieth amongst others. It will be a 136 player field instead of the usual 132, with an incredible line-up.

The elevated event will feature a whopping $20,000,000 prize purse. The prize purse, along with the stunning roster, is why the 2023 WM Phoenix Open is considered the biggest tournament of the 2023 PGA Tour season. The event will conclude on February 12, 2023.
