"Better than me" - Brooks Koepka lauds special fan after sharing the field with him ahead of LIV Golf Greenbrier

Brooks Koepka enjoyed a match with a young kid ahead of the 2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier event. The Saudi Circuit tournament will kick off with its first round on Thursday, August 16. Before the event, Koepka shared the field with a young golfer during a practice session.

Brooks Koepka was highly impressed with the kid’s game and even praised him on social media. Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Koepka complimented the budding golfer, Maddox, and humorously remarked that the child was "better" than him. The American golfer wrote:

"Better than me 😅 Maddox’s really the one teaching me things out here, keep fighting bud! We’re all behind you."

Notably, Brooks Koepka has not competed in any tournament since his last appearance at the LIV Golf UK event. He will return to action this week at Greenbrier.

When will Brooks Koepka tee off for the LIV Golf Greenbrier event?

Brooks Koepka will begin his round at the LIV Golf Greenbrier event on Friday, August 16. The tournament will feature a shotgun start at 1:15 p.m. ET, with all players starting on different holes.

Koepka will tee off in a group with Cameron Smith and Bubba Watson on the second hole. Jon Rahm will pair up with Bryson DeChambeau and Joaquin Niemann to start on the first tee, while Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymer, and Lee Westwood will begin on the third hole.

Brooks Koepka has been enjoying a decent season on the LIV Golf tour in 2024, and this week he has his sights set on winning his second event of the year. Earlier, he secured victory at the Singapore event.

Koepka started the season at the Mayakoba event and then competed in Las Vegas. Having played in 11 tournaments this season on LIV Golf, Koepka has recorded five top-10 finishes. His last appearance was at the United Kingdom event, where he finished 16th.

In addition to the LIV Golf events, Koepka also competed in the Majors this year. He played in all four Majors and was fortunate to make the cut in all of them; however, he did not secure a win. He tied for 45th place at the Masters and finished T26 at the PGA Championship. He also played at the U.S. Open, where he again tied for 26th place, and recorded a T43 finish at The Open Championship.

Koepka is one of the favorites to win this week, and according to Bet365, his odds are +2000. The top favorite is Jon Rahm with odds of +550, followed by Bryson DeChambeau and Tyrrell Hatton.
