Brandel Chamblee goes on a war of words with ‘LIV bots’ after being accused of rooting against Bryson DeChambeau at US Open
Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee came under criticism from LIV Golf fans for his comments after Bryson DeChambeau’s US Open win. Several fans accused him of openly rooting against the 30-year-old due to his association with the Saudi-backed circuit. Chamblee decided to defend himself by going on a war of words with the fans on X.
The former pro golfer-turned-analyst started by replying to fans accusing him of being ‘unhappy’ with DeChambeau’s win. The 61-year-old claimed that he was being wrongly accused of this. However, Chamblee soon went on a rant mode and slammed the “LIV bots” for their continued claims against him.
The veteran analyst went nuclear when responding to a comment asking if he had ‘thought about how he appeared to be openly rooting against Bryson all day on Sunday.’ He accused the breakaway tour fans of buying into a ‘narrative’ set by the Saudis and said they purposely targeted people with a different opinion than theirs.
Brandel Chamblee wrote on X:
“I’ve thought a lot about how LIV bots, and those they’ve bought, wanted to, for Saudi/MBS/PIF purposes, spread that narrative. Because they have nefarious designs in the game and want to discredit anyone whose goal runs counter to theirs. I lauded Bryson before, during and after his win, as was befitting his accomplishment.”
Replying to a different comment, Chamblee claimed that he “lauded Bryson for hours during the US Open week.” He wrote:
“I lauded Bryson for hours during the US Open week and on Live From… what made this US Open so compelling is that there was a visceral reaction to the win and the loss… which is when sport is at its best.”
In a different response, Chamblee stated that nothing was “accidental”’ about him praising Bryson DeChambeau for his win. The alleged ‘LIV hater’ said he lauded the former PGA Tour star’s transformation and growth as a person. He called the Crushers GC skipper’s journey ‘inspirational in so many ways.’
The star analyst wrote he can’t wait to see the golfer perform in the upcoming Open Championship at Royal Troon.
Paige Spiranac slams Brandel Chamblee for 'hatred' towards Bryson DeChambeau
Thousands of fans took to social media to slam Brandel Chamblee’s comments about Bryson DeChambeau’s US Open wins. Many accused the analyst of being biased to PGA Tour golfers and in turn, ‘downplaying’ the LIV star’s second major win. Golf influencer Paige Spiranac was part of the crowd who was unhappy with Chamblee.
Spiranac, who has been an open supporter of DeChambeau, slammed Chamblee for saying the LIV golfer won the US Open due to “good fortune.” She claimed that the TV show host didn’t even “try to hide his hatred.”
Defending Bryson DeChambeau, Paige Spiranac wrote in a post on X:
“Brandel saying ‘good fortune’ is why Bryson won the US Open is wild. Doesn’t even try to hide his hatred for him. Smh.”
It is pertinent to note that Bryson DeChambeau, the 2020 US Open champion beat Rory McIlroy at Pinehurst No.2 on Sunday to win his second major. During the post-event show, Chamblee took time to make some harsh comments on McIlroy for letting the LIV golfer take the win. This also gained criticism from fans.
