Brooks Koepka and Scottie Scheffler's manager expresses excitement 'to be a part of this unique event' for PGA Tour x LIV Golf 'Match'

Two of the most prominent PGA Tour players, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, will face off with two of LIV Golf's biggest names, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, this winter. In a version of The Match, the two sides of the never-ending golf debate will come face to face and likely provide some thrilling entertainment in December.

Blake Smith, who represents both Scheffler and Koepka, said (via Golfweek):

“Brooks and Scottie are very excited to be a part of this unique event and look forward to sharing more soon."

Brett Falkoff, the agent for DeChambeau, added:

“Bryson looks forward to competing in Las Vegas this December in an event that is sure to provide great entertainment for the fans.”

McIlroy spoke for himself, sending a text message outlining his excitement. He's come a long way from the staunchly anti-LIV player he used to be, and he said he is "thrilled" to partner with Scheffler in something that is sure to be an "exciting duel."

The Irishman also noted:

“This isn’t just a contest between some of golf’s major champions; it’s an event designed to energize the fans. We’re all here to put on a great show and contribute to a goodwill event that brings the best together again.”

McIlroy once said that he hoped LIV would dissolve entirely, and now he's set to face off in a special match with two of their top players.

PGA Tour declined to comment on Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau match

The PGA Tour, which is currently embroiled in negotiations with the PIF to merge, declined to comment on the event according to Golfweek. It's being developed by the same company that helmed The Match, an event that has pitted four players against each other for several years for charity.

The upcoming December golf event is filled with top-tier talent. Two of the players involved won Majors in 2024. Combined, there are 13 Major titles among the four players, with Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka ranking among the best with four and five apiece respectively.

Scottie Scheffler is coming off a historic season in which he was the world number one and won seven titles, including the Masters, the Tour Championship, and several Signature Events. He also took home a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

It is expected that both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will remain separate entities in 2025, so this is yet another rare instance of the two sides being able to compete in the same event, although this is not a sanctioned event. They can otherwise compete against each other in Majors and very few other tournaments, but for the most part, they are kept separate for now.
