Brooks Koepka x Bryson DeChambeau: Entire beef and current status explained

One of the biggest rivalries in the golfing world was between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeu. It was so intense that PGA Tour officials had to issue an order for them to be on good terms or they would be grounded.

Even PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan announced a new rule to penalize fans who yell "Brooksy" at Bryson during matches. He warned the audience that if they did not remain silent, they would be tossed from the event.

It all started with slow play. Back in 2019, Koepka commented on the slow play at the Dubai Desert Classic, nailing towards DeChambeua without naming him in his interview.

Koepka talked about slow gameplay and eventually, Bryson made headlines for his slow start during the tournaments. Koepka said:

"I just don't understand how it takes a minute and 20 seconds, a minute and 15 to hit a golf ball; it's not that hard. It's always between two clubs. There's a miss short, there's a miss long. It really drives me nuts especially when it's a long hitter because you know you've got two other guys or at least one guy that's hitting before you, so you can do all your calculations, you should have your numbers."

Bryson and Brooks' relationship soured after DeChambeau confronted Kopeka's caddie, Rickie Elliot. The discussion heated up further, but they eventually decided to keep it out of the media. However, Bryson later commented on Brooks' physique, adding fuel to the fire.

Brooks Koepka x Bryson DeChambeau: Current status

Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau are on good terms now. Their fight became the talk of the town after the release of Netflix's new docuseries, Full Swing.

On Thursday, February 23, Brooks opened up about his relationship with DeChambeau in Q&A on Instagram. He said:

"I thought it was interesting. Obviously, when you do something like that, it never shows the full picture . . .. a lot of stuff wasn’t seen, but it is what it is."

Their two years of a grudge are now simmering down as they both play the same golf series. Brooks Koepka went on to say:

"Believe it or not, we squashed it. We’re good. I actually talk to him quite frequently because of what’s going on here at LIV. Pretty much on an every-other-day basis. So we’ve got a good open line of communication. We’ve figured it all out and we’re good."

Koepka also addressed the rumoured "scuffle" at the 2018 Ryder Cup.

"Yeah, this one makes me laugh. We were just horsing around, messing around. We were in the European team room. We were just having fun. We actually went out in Paris later that night so if there was a scuffle it wasn’t too bad. Just horsing around, it’s what guys do. But we still play a lot of golf when we’re back home hanging out with each other. So no issue, and he’d say the same thing."

Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau signed a deal with LIV Golf last year and are all set to compete in the first event of the LIV Golf in Mayakoba.
