Bryson DeChambeau challenges NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce for a game of golf after winning the US Open
Bryson DeChambeau has challenged NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce to a game of golf. This comes after his US Open triumph last Sunday (June 16).
Bryson DeChambeau held his nerve in the final round at Pinehurst to win his second US Open title. He fired a 71 to beat Rory McIlroy by a stroke.
DeChambeau's win came after his clutch bunker shot on the 18th. It was hit under pressure but was still quite precise, which he termed the best shot of his career. The shot caught many eyeballs, including Patrick Mahomes, who praised it on X.
Reacting to the compliment, DeChambeau challenged Mahomes and Kelce to a golf face-off.
"You, me, and Trav Break 50, let’s go," he wrote.
Mahomes didn't take long to accept the challenge.
Both Kelce and Mahomes have experience playing golf in the past, and they are often seen hitting drives in their off time. Both of them also won Capital One's Match VIII last year against the NBA duo of Stephan Curry and Klay Thompson.
Will Bryson DeChambeau compete at the Travelers Championship?
Bryson DeChambeau will not compete at the Travelers Championship, which will take place from Thursday, June 20, to Sunday, June 23, in Cromwell, Connecticut. For the uninitiated, LIV Golf professionals are not eligible to compete in PGA Tour events.
However, DeChambeau will be in action this week at LIV Golf Nashville, which will be played from July 21 to 23 at The Grove. So far, eight events have been played on the Saudi-backed circuit this season, but he is yet to win a title. He is currently placed 15th in the individual standings and has registered four top-10 finishes.
DeChambeau's team, Crushers GC, top the team standings with two wins so far. Last season, Crushers won the Team Championship in Miami, and he also claimed two titles.
Bryson DeChambeau is currently ranked 10th in the OWGR. He started the year as World No. 155, but his brilliant run in the Majors has helped him surge in the rankings. He placed T6 at the Masters Tournament, and last month, he was runner-up at the PGA Championship. The US Open win helped him move 28 spots further to 10th.
