Bryson DeChambeau clears up speculation regarding date of YouTube collab with Donald Trump

Bryson DeChambeau released a video on his YouTube channel this Tuesday, July 23, featuring former US President Donald Trump. The golfer had announced the release of the video the day before, which led to some speculation.

In the video, Donald Trump's ear is not bandaged, which led to some speculation on when the video may have been filmed. Bryson DeChambeau responded by posting the following text on his X (formerly Twitter) account:

"To confirm and clear any speculation, the Break 50 video with @realDonaldTrump was filmed during the first week of July, before I traveled overseas and prior to the incident that occurred in Butler, PA."

On July 13, there was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump while he was conducting a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump survived the attack, although the shot injured his right ear.

DeChambeau's video in collaboration with Trump is part of his "Break 50" series, in which the golfer and his guest play a round of golf in a better ball and score under 50 format.

In the case of the video with Donald Trump, the event was a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. For every stroke under par, $10,000 was donated to the organization.

Bryson DeChambeau and Donald Trump both scored 22 under, raising $220,000. In addition, YouTube users were also able to donate and, two hours after the video was posted, more than $10,000 had been raised in this way.

DeChambeau started the channel in 2021. Since then, he has posted 111 videos on topics related to golf. Initially, he offered advice on how to deal with different situations in the game and showed his preparation routines.

Later, DeChambeau expanded into other content. He started doing golf challenges, such as the "Break 50" series, which has featured Paige Spiranac, Sergio Garcia, and Grant Horvat, among others.

DeChambeau has been very eloquent about the importance he gives to social media for the development of golf in the current context.

Speaking ahead of LIV Golf Singapore, DeChambeau said (via Flushing It):

"I think YouTube is the next generation where every kid is watching their entertainment and certainly Mr. Beast has shown that there's a huge following and base over there, and just capture a little bit of that and bring them over to the game of golf is something I want to do. Shows a bit of the creative side that I have, too."

DeChambeau has been able to continue his work as a YouTuber without neglecting his professional golf career. This season, he finished in the top 10 in three of the four major championships, including his victory at the US Open.
