Bryson DeChambeau offers his support despite missing out on Paris Olympics spot - "I’ll always be rooting for a Team USA victory"

Bryson DeChambeau's victory at the 2024 US Open and two top-10 finishes at the other three majors made him a fan favorite to make the Olympic team. However, DeChambeau finished fifth on the U.S. team roster and missed out on a trip to the Paris Olympics.

Nevertheless, DeChambeau showed his support for the U.S. team by posting a message of encouragement on his X account:

"Shoutout to the guys in Paris this week. Of course I would love to be out there competing with them, but no matter the situation, I’ll always be rooting for a Team USA victory."

The Olympic golf field was determined by the Official World Golf Record (OWGR). Each country could send up to two players, according to the order of the rankings, up to a total of 60 players.

If a country had more than two players in the top 15, it could send a maximum of four players. Only the United States was in that situation, sending its four top-ranked players: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark.

Bryson DeChambeau finished fifth among the Americans placed in the top 15, behind Clark. As a result, he lost his chance of being the eighth LIV Golf player to feature at Le Golf National.

DeChambeau is currently ranked 9th in the world thanks to his victory at the U.S. Open and top 10 finishes at the Masters and PGA Championship. By playing LIV Golf, DeChambeau does not earn world ranking points in most of the events he plays.

A look at Bryson DeChambeau's record representing the U.S.

Bryson DeChambeau has donned the red, white and blue of the United States on several occasions, but not always with good results.

His first call to the national team was in 2014 at the Arnold Palmer Cup, which pits two college teams, one representing the United States and the other called "International." The Americans lost that event, and DeChambeau earned two points in four matches.

He was then called up to be part of the American team for the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy, a tournament that determines the world amateur champion team. The U.S. won the team event, and DeChambeau finished T8 on the individual leaderboard.

One year later, DeChambeau played at the 2015 Walker Cup, a tournament that pits an American and a British amateur team against each other. The Europeans won, but DeChambeau scored 2.5 points in three matches.

DeChambeau would not return to the national team until three years later, when he made his debut in the 2018 Ryder Cup, played at Le Golf National, the course that is now hosting Olympic golf. The Americans lost the event, and DeChambeau lost all three matches he played.

He was then invited to play at the Presidents Cup in 2019. He did not fare well at this event either, scoring only 0.5 points in two matches. Nevertheless, the American team won the event.

Finally, Bryson DeChambeau also played at the 2021 Ryder Cup, which the American team won at Whistling Straits. His performance included contributing 2.5 points in three matches.
