Bryson DeChambeau says YouTuber Mr Beast inspired him to ‘risk’ his golf game for making content
Bryson DeChambeau revealed that Mr Beast inspired him to take risks and create more online content for social media. The American golfer, who recently won the 2024 US Open, enjoys an enormous fan base on social media platforms. DeChambeau has become more active on the internet in recent years.
During a pre-tournament press conference for the 2024 LIV Golf Nashville, Bryson DeChambeau opened up about his social media journey, claiming it was risky when he started. Still, the popular American YouTuber Mr Beast inspired him to take that risk, and fortunately, things turned out in his favor.
Speaking of Mr Beast, DeChambeau said (via Ten Golf):
"It was risk a year and a half ago. But I knew it was a way for me to get my voice out there and inspire a younger generation. I saw what Mr Beast did in 2016 all the way up to where he is now. Over 200 million followers, a kid from Greenville, North Carolina. And just an entertaining character, not an athlete." [23:24]
"I said why can't an athlete do something like that why is that not possible. He's inspiring millions of people. Why aren't we maximizing that? Why isn't there an opportunity to do that? And I saw that light and I said look I want to try this."
Bryson DeChambeau has 1.3 million followers on Instagram, 409K on X (formerly Twitter) and 749K subscribers on YouTube.
He often collaborates with other social media stars on his YouTube channel for golf content. He has uploaded more than 100 videos on YouTube, garnering 83,640,632 views. DeChambeau is also quite active on Snapchat and TikTok.

Following his victory at the 2024 US Open, Bryson DeChambeau's social media pages have witnessed a tremendous rise in followers. He gained around 150,000 followers on different social media platforms within 24 hours of his win at the Pinehurst No. 2 Golf Course in North Carolina.
According to Joe Pompliano, DeChambeau's search interest on Google increased by 250%, attracting collaborations such as The Stitch X Crushers. He gained 25K followers on Twitter and 100K on Instagram. His YouTube subscribers also increased by 25K.
Bryson DeChambeau won the second major of his career by defeating Rory McIlroy with just one stroke at the 2024 US Open. It was a dramatic match, with the result coming at the very last moment. DeChambeau carded a par on the final hole while McIlroy settled for a bogey.
