Can a LIV Golfer win The Open Championship 2024? Saudi-backed players’ odds explored

The Open Championship is set to feature 18 LIV Golfers in action this week. This will be the highest number of players from the Saudi-backed circuit in action at a major championship this season.

The Open Championship 2024 is set to begin on Thursday, July 18, at Royal Troon in Scotland. The oldest major championship will feature 158 players in the field competing for the coveted Claret Jug.

Among the 18 LIV Golfers, Bryson DeChambeau has the best odds of winning the Open Championship 2024. According to BetMGM, he is +1400 to win his second major this year. He is only behind Scottie Scheffler (+500), Rory McIlroy (+750), and Ludvig Aberg (+1200) on the list.

DeChambeau has been in terrific form this year and already has a win (US Open) and a runner-up finish (PGA Championship) in two of the three majors so far. This year, he is the best-performing LIV Golfer at the major championships by a distant margin.

Englishman Tyrrell Hatton is the next LIV Golfer on the list with odds of +2500. He has been quite consistent in the majors and hasn't missed a cut since the 2021 Open Championship. Last month, he also won his maiden LIV Golf title in Nashville.

Jon Rahm is also expected to do well with +2500 odds. However, he has not been up to the mark at the majors since joining the PIF-sponsored circuit. While last year he had three top tens, including a win at the Masters Tournament, this year he tied for 45th at Augusta before missing the cut at Valhalla.

Last month, Rahm pulled out of the US Open due to injury. However, he will be hoping to finally have a good result at the season's last major.
