“Can't look less cool if I tried' - Max Homa reacts to video of him destroying club at WM Phoenix Open
Max Homa had a moment of anger on the final day of the WM Phoenix Open. The golfer broke his club in anger over a shot. However, Homa seemed fine at the end of the day.
Homa started the final day way behind leader Scottie Scheffler. He was at a one-score deficit of one on the day with a total of under five. The golfer was looking for a break to improve his ranking. The 32-year-old seemed to be headed towards his second trophy of the year.
However, the golfer hit his drive on the par-4 sixth hole into the sand. This eventually led to him slipping on the leaderboard and finishing T39th.
Max Homa reacts to him breaking a club
Here’s how Max Homa reacted to him breaking the club:
The six-time PGA Tour winner looked at his worst at TPC Scottsdale in the clip. The golfer completely threw the kitchen sink at his club in disgust. However, the moment was not televised.
Interestingly, Tyrrell Hatton was one of the first golfers to reply to the incident. The Englishman responded to the clip by stating that he could teach Homa “how to throw a club properly.”
Hatton wrote:
"Maybe we can have fairway bunker lessons together but il show you how to throw a club properly at the end of it?"
Homa replied to the comment, stating that he was “nervous already.” Meanwhile, DP World Tour player Chris Paisley also responded to the incident by calling it an “anger management” incident.
It is pertinent to note that Max Homa is not one to lose his cool easily. The golfer is famous for his wit and friendly behavior. Having won his sixth PGA Tour title at the Farmers Insurance Open last month, the golfer came into the Phoenix Open sitting at a career-high rank of 12th in the world. However, the golfer struggled on Sunday and this eventually led to his moment of madness.
Max Homa will tee up next at Riviera CC in his hometown at the Genesis Invitational. The golfer will go up against the likes of Tiger Woods, among others, at the event this weekend. Following a frustrating outing in Arizona, Homa will aim high at the upcoming event.
