Charley Hull reveals "bet" with her boyfriend, birdies decide their holidays
LPGA Tour phenom Charley Hull has disclosed that her holidays with her boyfriend depend on the birdies she makes. She is playing at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club this week,
Hull has completed the first round of the LPGA event and is currently leading the game with 6 under 64. Following the round, the 28-year-old joined a press conference and revealed that she had a playful bet with her boyfriend.
“I actually had a bet with my boyfriend. Every five birdies I make we have an extra day on our holiday. Yeah, got one extra day on a holiday. I had actually seven birdies so I said like an extra half of day, and, then, yeah. But hopefully I get more over the weekend,” Charley Hull said.
Hull continued about how side bets help her stay motivated.
“100% they do. They really do help me focus. When I was playing in Saudi my boyfriend actually rang me before my round and he was like, 'I reckon after three holes, I bet you're 3-under after three holes. Okay, we'll have a bet.' I think I was 2-under after three holes but then I made a couple more birdies. Kind of like gets you going,” she added.
Hull dropped three birdies on the front nine of The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican’s first round, four on the back nine, and a bogey. She is tied with Jeon Jiwon after the opening round and both are the event's leaders. Dryburgh Gemma tied for the third place.
