Charley Hull reveals reason behind getting physio mid-round at The Annika, admits being ‘kind of lazy’
Charley Hull revealed the reason for getting physiotherapy mid-round at the 2024 The Annika. The English golfer is playing at this week's tournament in Belleair, Florida, and she has been impressive with her game, as she was tied for the lead after the first round on November 14. However, Charley Hull was spotted receiving therapy during a round on the greens.
During the press conference for the tournament, a reporter asked her the reason for this. In response, Hull revealed that she had been "kind of lazy" on the "physio" last week, so when she entered this week's event, she struggled with pain and cramps, prompting her to get the physiotherapy. Explaining her decision, Hull said (via ASAP Sports):
"I always have bad hips. I've been kind of lazy on the physio the last two weeks. Haven't really had any physio and it's just gone out. Yesterday I wasn't feeling very well in the pro-am had. Stomach pains and cramps and stuff. I think it just tightened my whole body up. I'm going to have a bit of physio and some needles put in me after the round."
Despite struggling with pain during the round at The Annika Championship, Charley Hull remained impressive with her game. She shot a 6-under and took the lead in the tournament.
"I played pretty solid"- Charley Hull reflects on her performance at The Annika
Hull was impressive with her game at the 2024 The Annika. She recorded only one bogey in the opening round and made seven birdies. Speaking of her performance, the English golfer said (via ASAP Sports):
"Yeah, felt like I played pretty solid. Hit it pretty well and putted pretty well. Made a bit of a silly bogey on my 8th hole, but it was the 17th hole of the golf course because I started on the back nine. Just three-whacked it. Apart from that didn't really leave much out there. Just one birdie putt. I think it was on my sixth -- fifth th hole on the back nine. But, yeah, apart from that I played pretty well."
Charley Hull started on the tenth hole with a birdie and added two more birdies on the 14th and 15th holes. She then carded a bogey on the 17th and a birdie on the 18th. On the back nine, Hull made three birdies and wrapped up the round at 6-under 64. She was tied for first place with Jiwon Jeon, who also carded a 6-under round.
Gemma Dryburgh tied for third place with Mi Hyang Lee, while Carlota Ciganda finished in a tie for fifth place with Nelly Korda, Maja Stark, Minjee Lee, Cheyenne Knight, and Celine Boutier. The tournament will conclude on Sunday, November 17.
