Collin Morikawa’s wife Katherine reminds him of his Canadian connection ahead of the Presidents Cup
Collin Morikawa will be a part of the 12-member US squad led by captain Jim Furyk at the 2024 Presidents Cup. The tournament is slated to take place at the Royal Montreal Golf Club from September 24-29.
Ahead of the Presidents Cup, Collin Morikawa posted a montage reel on his Instagram, which comprised a picture of his school, La Cañada High School, California, as well as a photo of the Spartans boys golf team that Morikawa was a part of.
Morikawa's wife, Katherine Zhu, who was born in Vancouver, Canada, reminded the American golfer of his Canadian connection. Resharing Collin's reel montage, Katherine wrote:
“And you married the girl from the Canada," Katherine wrote.
Collin Morikawa will be playing in his third Presidents Cup edition and is paired with Sahith Theegala for the first round at 11:53 a.m. ET. The two will face off against Adam Scott and Min Woo Lee from the international team.

The American golfer met his now-wife Katherine Zhu in 2017, back when both played collegiate golf. In an interview with Golf Channel in 2020, Morikawa shared how fortunate he felt to have Zhu by his side. Claiming he did not win collegiate events in college till he met Katherine, Morikawa said (as quoted by PEOPLE):
“I am very lucky to have her…Kat has been by my side through it all. She would hate me if I didn't say this, but I didn't start winning in college until she showed up in my life, so thanks Kat. She knows golf can take a toll on you, whether it's a good or bad day. I'm very lucky to have her,” Collin Morikawa said.
The couple got engaged in 2021, and in an interview with the PGA Tour the following year, Morikawa expressed his nervousness before proposing to Katherine, claiming that it was more difficult than playing pro golf.
“[I was] way more nervous proposing. It's not even the same. It's not even in the same boat. It is so far gone…I mean golf I do it every day. It's normal. Proposing is not…That morning I practiced with my caddie in the Bahamas and we were on a cart and I was driving into ropes and going all over the place,” Morikawa said.
They got married in November 2022 at Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles with approximately 100 close friends and family members in attendance. The same year, Katherine also caddied for Morikawa at the 2022 Par Three contest at Augusta National.
