Collin Morikawa makes hilarious comment on Scottie Scheffler’s height, schooling him on basketball
Collin Morikawa may not be able to hold much over Scottie Scheffler, especially in the golf world, but he'd like to think he could do better in other sports. He shared an Instagram story jokingly alluding to as much. These are two of the best golfers in the world, ranked fourth and first respectively, and perhaps those skills could translate into other athletic endeavors.
Morikawa's picture showed him with a hand up high above both his and Scheffler's head. He captioned it:
"Since I'm so tall, showing Scottie Scheffler how I'd dunk."
Of course, Scheffler is about six inches taller than Morikawa. Neither is overwhelmingly tall, but Scheffler stands head and shoulders above his golf counterpart.
In the story that Morikawa posted, it is pretty clear that Scheffler has a few inches on his golf counterpart. The World No. 1 golfer stands at 6'3", while Morikawa is just 5'9". Scheffler is taller, but neither of the golfers is the premier dunking height. With some training, he could do it, as some 6'3" NBA players are able to, but Morikawa would have more trouble.
Height doesn't play a big role in golf, which is why they are two of the most successful golfers in the world despite such differing statures. They will likely show that off at the 2024 Presidents Cup, where Scheffler and Morikawa lead a talented group of Americans into the 2024 version of the biennial tournament.
Joining them are Brian Harman, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, Sahith Theegala, Max Homa, and a few other talented golfers.
Collin Morikawa makes height jokes at his own expense
Collin Morikawa is not tall, but he is aware of that. He posted a self-effacing Instagram story showing just how much shorter he is than Scottie Scheffler, but a recent video also showcased his lack of stature.
The Instagram story joke refers back to when the Presidents Cup roster, which houses both Scheffler and Morikawa, was being photographed. Morikawa joked that he had to stand on the front step because he wouldn't block anyone due to his height.
Brian Harman joked about it and stepped down to joined him. Scheffler and his taller counterparts were perched on the very top step, high above Morikawa and others.
Morikawa said:
"I'm as short as can be."
Other players laughed as they continued to line up for the picture. The Presidents Cup doesn't officially begin until tomorrow. Then, Collin Morikawa and the other American golfers will take on Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, Adam Scott, Tom Kim, Min Woo Lee, and the rest of the International side.
