Does US Open 2023 have a champions' dinner? All you need to know about the major championship’s traditions
The 2023 US Open is set to be held from June 15-18 at the Los Angeles Country Club. Prior to the start of the competition, the United States Golf Association (USGA) hosted a special dinner on Monday, June 12. This year, though, the special event attracted amateur golfers.
The USGA announced the news on Twitter with the following caption:
"A special evening. Tonight we hosted the amateurs in this year's #USOpen field for dinner."
The US Open is one of the oldest tournaments held by the USGA, and it is normally held in mid-June. It's the year's third major, held on a variety of golf courses.
The Newport Country Club hosted the first US Open on October 4, 1895, featuring 10 pros and one amateur golfer in the 36-hole play. Horace Rawlins won the event and collected $150 in cash and a golf medal from the $335 prize pool.
