“Don't be daft”: Sir Nick Faldo slams British media outlet about Bryson DeChambeau stance
One of the many golf stars who have praised Bryson DeChambeau's performance at the 2024 U.S. Open is the former golfer, Nick Faldo. Numerous media outlets have reviewed Faldo's more than cordial interview with DeChambeau for Sky Sports after the second round at Pinehurst.
This attracted a lot of press attention, given that Faldo has been very vocal in his opposition to LIV Golf, of which Bryson DeChambeau is a major proponent. The three-time English Masters champion responded by posting the following text on X (formerly Twitter):
"Don’t be daft, I like the guy! Bryson is good entertainment. He brings a fascinating & innovative scientific approach to golf."
During the interview, Nick Faldo was seen embracing Bryson DeChambeau and was very pleased to receive the opportunity to exchange views with him after the second round of the 2024 U.S. Open.
Among other topics, Faldo was interested in how Bryson DeChambeau had planned to tackle a course as demanding as Pinehurst No. 2. Here is part of what Bryson DeChambeau had to say (via The Mirror):
"It's going to be an interesting test of golf over the weekend. I'm not necessarily going to attack it. I'm looking to play some solid, boring golf. If I can do that, I'll give myself a great shot. Sometimes when I get a little tight out there I don't do my best, so, for me, freeing up is key."
Nick Faldo is at the 2024 U.S. Open as part of Sky Sports' coverage of the event for the UK territory. Faldo has pursued a career in broadcast golf since ending his illustrious career in the sport.

Bryson DeChambeau leads the 2024 U.S. Open after 54 holes with a score of 7 under. DeChambeau holds a three-stroke lead over Matthieu Pavon, Patrick Cantlay, and Rory McIlroy who are tied for second place.
DeChambeau posted a 3-under 67 for the first round, with four birdies and one bogey. During the second day, he had five birdies and four bogeys, which improved his score to 4-under and tied for second.
During the so-called "Moving Day", DeChambeau had his worst moment of the tournament so far, when he made a double bogey on the 16th hole. Even so, he climbed to first place with a three-shot lead, thanks to six birdies, one bogey, and the aforementioned double bogey.
DeChambeau will play the fourth round as a duo with Matthieu Pavon and his tee time will be at 2:21 pm (Eastern Time). They will play behind Rory McIlroy-Patrick Cantlay and Hideki Matsuyama-Ludvig Aberg, in that order.
If DeChambeau clinches victory at the 2024 U.S. Open, it will be his second title at the event in 10 appearances.
