“Don’t stand in the middle of the f***ing fairway”: Shane Lowry lashes out at fan after on-course altercation

Shane Lowry is one of the leaders of the 2024 Open Championship with a score of 5 under when playing the 11th hole of the third round. Lowry is known for his impulsive temperament, and it showed during the so-called 'moving day.'

Lowry exchanged words with a spectator after his ball hit him inside the ropes. The Irishman was very upset and, according to No Laying Up's post on X, told the fan:

"In the future, don't stand in the middle of the f***ing fairway when we're trying to hit, OK?"

Some fans have posted on social media that the spectator who was hit was a member of one of the press crews covering the event.

Others have recalled that Shane Lowry had a similar situation in the second round when his ball hit a spectator and ended up in a much more advantageous position than if it had followed the normal path of the shot.

On Friday, Lowry had a similar situation on the 12th hole when his second shot hit a cameraman. At the time, he also reacted angrily, saying the following (via Golf Magic):

"As I was over the ball I could just see you puttin' your f***ing camera up. Just get outta the way! Just get back there! F***ing sake."
