"Donate them to LIV" - Fans react to Michael Kim's joke on Jordan Spieth's bag being found at the parking lot
Jordan Spieth is just one shot behind the leaders at the 2023 Valspar Championship. The American golfer played remarkably well on Thursday and finished with a scoring deficit of four to settle for fourth position.
Apparently, after the match, his golf bag was found lying in the parking lot. Michael Kim shared a picture of Jordan Speith's bag on his Twitter account with the caption saying:
"Someone just left these clubs on the ground next to the parking lot. I’ll throw it up for auction. What’s the best offer?
Fans jumped into the comments section to tease the golfer and asked Kim to donate the bag to LIV Golf.
"Donate them to LIV. Maybe someone like Piot or Chase or Na could use new used clubs and a bag. They can’t break par with what they have now."
While another user wrote that the bag belongs to the player who joined LIV Golf.
"Maybe from a player who juat signed up with LIV Golf."
People also highlighted that maybe the equipment might not be working and so the golfer threw them. They jotted:
"They must have decided to quit."
"Hard pass. They clearly don’t work."
"They probably don’t work."
"If they were left there on purpose then the owner was not happy with them. I will not pay any amount for them."
The Valspar Championship is set to conclude on March 19. Ryan Brehm, Stephan Jaeger, and Adam Schenk are tied for first place after the first round with a five-point deficit.
"My putting’s been working" - Jordan Spieth's putter is finally cooperating at the 2023 Valspar Championship
Jordan Spieth took his first shot of the day on the 10th hole. He made three consecutive birdies on the 14th, 15th, and 16th holes. With a bogey-free round, Spieth finished with a score of 67.
Spieth's putter finally cooperated in the match, allowing him to make four birdies. During a press conference, Spieth discussed his putter. He stated:
"With only hitting like five-ish fairways, you do that around this place and shoot under par, it’s pretty solid. I was able to sneak a couple extras with the putter today. I’ve been feeling like my putting’s been working towards where I really want it to be.”
Jordan Spieth confessed that he was feeling comfortable with speed control. He went on to talk about his game and said:
"Feeling comfortable with the speed control and just overall with the putter, it allowed, even if I was missing them, I felt like I could play to the centre of greens and not attack pins. That’s a different place than I’ve been living as I’ve been trying to get better and better with the putter."
Spieth finished in fourth position after the first round of the 2023 Valspar Championship alongside Lucas Glover and Maverick McNealy.
Tommy Fleetwood secured the seventh position in a five-way tie alongside Byeong Hun An, Kramer Hickok, Patton Kizzire, and Alex Smalley.
Ben Martin finished in the 12th position along with Stewart Cink, Ben Mario, Adam Hadwin, Justin Thomas, MJ Daffue, Ben Griffin, Davis Riley, and Doug Ghim.
