Exploring the Presidents Cup future venues through 2030
The Presidents Cup is very similar to the Ryder Cup. It functions in a similar format with stars from the United States taking on those from the rest of the world. In the Presidents Cup, all players hail from the USA or everywhere but Europe. This is because Europe is the team the USA faces in the Ryder Cup. Much like the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup is not an annual event and it changes venues all the time.
This year, the Presidents Cup will be held at the Royal Montreal Golf Club, which is the oldest golf club in North America. Later this year, some of the world's best players will gather at a storied club.
This is the second time this particular club will host this prestigious team-based tournament. It last did so in 2007, when Jack Nicklaus led Team USA to a win over Gary Player and the International Team by five full points. Let's explore where will it go after that.
Upcoming Presidents Cup venues
In 2026, the Presidents Cup will shift back to American soil. Medina Country Club in Chicago will be the fifth different club in the United States to host this event. This venue was home to a few prestigious tournaments in the past:
- 2019 BMW Championship
- 2012 Ryder Cup
- Two PGA Championships
- Three U.S. Opens
- 1988 U.S. Senior Open
- Three Western Opens (BMW Championship)
They have also locked down a global partner. 1Password will be the 2024 Presidents Cup sponsor. Via the PGA Tour, Brian Oliver, executive vice president of Corporate Partnerships, said:
“As excitement for the upcoming 2024 Presidents Cup continues to build, we are very excited to welcome 1Password as our third Global Partner for the PGA TOUR’s premier team event. 1Password has an established commitment to innovation and excellence in the cybersecurity industry, and we are thrilled that they have selected the Presidents Cup to partner with as they continue the evolution of their outstanding brand.”
Two years later, the team event will move to Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia. This is the fourth time the prestigious tournament will be played in Australia.
Finally, in 2030, the event will come back to the United States. This time, it will be held at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. It is an iconic venue that has hosted quite a few impressive events:
- 1981 U.S. Mid-Amateur
- Two PGA Championships (1992, 2018)
- 2001 World Golf Championships-American Express Championship
- 2004 U.S. Senior Open
- 2008 BMW Championship
- 2013 Senior PGA Championship
After that, the event does not have a set home. They have the immediate future locked in, and they will eventually name the venues after that.
