"Fans want what Tiger Woods wears"- Sun Day Red President on new line of released polos
Tiger Woods' Sun Day Red brand launched a new line called "Heritage" as part of its "Logo Collection" this Thursday, September 12. The new line is dedicated to on-course polo shirts.
Brad Blankinship, president of the company founded by Tiger Woods and TaylorMade, said the new line is in response to fans' interest in wearing the style of the 15-time major champion.
That was part of what Blankinship said during an interview for Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio's Inside The Ropes program:
"The cool thing about working with Tiger [Woods] is that he is absolutely engaged and thinks a whole lot about the product...Fans definitely want what Tiger wears and this collection is just that." [0:13 - 0:21; 1:03 - 1:09]
Blankinship also offered statements to Forbes, saying that the company has struggled to replenish depleted inventory from the brand's launch to date.
"So much of what we first launched sold through much quicker than we could have imagined and this summer we’ve been working tirelessly to get sold out styles back in-stock while continuing to introduce new styles, like the Logo Collection."
Tiger Woods, for his part, told Forbes that he was involved in every detail of the design and production of the Heritage line:
"Throughout this year, we’ve been working on new polos, and I’ve put them to test in real-time during competition. We’ve been focused on every detail: materials, fit, collar stays, buttons, style, logo application, and more."
Tiger Woods launched Sun Day Red in partnership with TaylorMade after ending his 27-year relationship with Nike. The official unveiling of the brand took place in February during the week of the Genesis Invitational.
