Former Masters champion gives hot analysis on Tiger Woods’ swing ahead of the US Open 2024 - “Maybe the most active I've seen his right leg”
Tiger Woods is back in action this week at the US Open, but is he ready to put up a tough challenge this time? Well, former Masters champion Trevor Immelman had a positive observation after watching Woods' swing during the practice session ahead of the tournament.
Woods is set to compete in his 23rd US Open, which will take place from Thursday, June 13 to Sunday, June 16 at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina. This is his first event since missing the cut at the PGA Championship last month.
On Wednesday, June 12, Claire Rogers of Golf.com shared a video of Tiger Woods during a range session. According to her, the session was quite lengthy.
Responding to the video, Immelman, who won the 2008 Masters, observed some positive changes in Tiger Woods' right leg movement.
"Maybe the most active I've seen his right leg in the downswing in a long time," he wrote.
For the uninitiated, the 15-time major champion underwent subtalar fusion surgery last year on his right ankle, which was severely affected by a car accident in 2021. Since returning to the golf course, his right leg hasn't had the same movement as before and looks quite stiff. While there is nothing wrong with his shot-making, the lack of movement in his right leg is affecting his game.
If Immelman's observation holds some weight, it is great news for Woods' fans, who can expect a good result this week.
