Former NFL star makes big revelation about Scottie Scheffler while claiming to have played 500 rounds of golf together
Former NFL star Tony Romo shared his experience of playing golf with current World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Scheffler recently won a gold medal for the USA at the Paris Olympics with a phenomenal performance in the final round, shooting a 62 to clinch the medal.
In a video shared by PGA Tour Champions, Romo praised Scheffler's game and mentioned that he had played around 500 rounds with the American golfer, noting that Scheffler never shot over 70.
Speaking about Scottie Scheffler, Romo said (via the X account of PGA Tour Champions):
"I don't think I've ever played a round of golf with Scottie Scheffler and him not break 70, ever, which is insane. Like now, I'm actually starting to count it where I'm like, we got to be around 500. I'm like, not one day, you're off in golf where you shoot 70, 71. It's because he's had days where he's played poorly and he's +1 after 6, and I'm like, he should be +7, you know.
"Then the next day he's -7 after 6. It's just, all of a sudden, he gets back, and the next shot, he has the ability to auto-correct. It's like hitting pitches. I mean, he's one of the best pitchers ever. His short game is incredible. You know, if he putts well—remember Tiger—if he putts well, he wins. If not, he's in the mix," he added.
Scottie Scheffler's round of 62 at the Paris Olympics secured the gold medal for his team. He has been phenomenal this season, recording six victories on the PGA Tour, including winning the green jacket for the second time. Scheffler has not missed a single cut this season and has had 14 finishes in the top 14. He was the runner-up in two events.
