Former Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn gives his take on Olympic golf – “Most of the world’s best taking each other on”

Former Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn has praised the Olympic golf event, calling it a great success. He said the best of the world are playing sports in their purest form.

Thomas Bjorn is a three-time Ryder Cup winner, having played the biennial event in 1997, 2002 and 2014. Besides, he also captained Team Europe in their successful run at the Ryder Cup 2018. The event had incidentally taken place at Le Golf National, which is hosting this year's Olympics golf event.

Bjorn is in Paris this week, enjoying the Olympic golf men's event at Le Golf National. On Saturday, August 3, he expressed his views on the Olympics golf on X.

"Golf in @Olympics is proving to be a great success," he wrote. "It’s a pleasure being here to feel the atmosphere from the sold out crowds but more importantly the atmosphere amongst the players. Most of the worlds best taking each other on for Olympic gold. Sport in its purest form."

Bjorn has some happy memories at Le Golf National. In 2018, France hosted the Ryder Cup. He led Europe to a whopping 17.5–10.5 win over the US team to continue the home dominance.

Thomas Bjorn has won 15 times on the DP World Tour and now primarily plays on the Senior Tour, where he has won two titles. Last week, he tied for fifth at the Senior Open.
