“Genuinely lost my appetite for food” – LPGA golfer Jenny Shin announces major dietary change after Toto Japan Classic
LPGA golfer Jenny Shin recently said she has lost her appetite for food and has been eating way too much sugar, carbs, and dairy products. She added that she was going to fast for two days to reduce the inflammation.
Shin was last seen at the Toto Classic, where she tied for 61st after three rounds. She started well with a low score of 66 but eventually finished at 1-under over 54 holes. She played there after pulling out of the Maybank Championship due to injury, but it didn't look like she had fully recovered as she had a disappointing finish during the Asia Swing.
On Monday, November 4, Jenny Shin took to X to announce her dietary plan changes.
"Been eating way too much sugar, dairy and carbs, genuinely lost my appetite for food because of how my body feels," she wrote. "Will be fasting for the next two days. Hopefully it will lead to reducing all of my inflammation in my body including the injury!"
Will Jenny Shin compete at the 2024 Lotte Championship?
Jenny Shin is not expected to compete at the Lotte Championship, the next event in the LPGA. Earlier on Sunday, November 3, Shin reflected on her disappointing finish during the Asian swing due to injuries. She also announced her withdrawal from the Annika, the following week's event.
"Disappointing Asia swing with injury and WD," she wrote. "Not how I envisioned things to turn out, but I guess there are always different paths laid out for me. Had to WD from Pelican to give myself more time to recover and focus on my rehab. See you back at Naples, Florida for CME 👋🏻"
The Lotte Championship will take place from Thursday, November 7, to Sunday, November 10, at Hoakalei Country Club in Hawaii. It is not going to have a star-studded field, unlike the Annika.
The Annika will take place from Thursday, November 14, to Sunday, November 17, at Pelican Golf Club. The event will feature the likes of Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, Lilia Vu, Charley Hull, and most of the top LPGA stars.
As for Shin, she had a decent outing this year, making 19 cuts in 23 starts. She registered three top 10s, with T3 at the CPKC Women's Open being her best result. She is 37th in the Race to CME Globe standings and has qualified for the season-ending championship, which will take place later this month.
