Golf equipment company uses fan portrait of Rory McIlroy to send message through his Masters win

Rory McIlroy won the just-concluded Masters Tournament to finally secure a career Grand Slam, one of the highest accomplishments a professional golfer can attain. Following his win, sports equipment company TaylorMade Golf shared an inspiring fan portrait of the Northern Irish golfer celebrating his victory.

McIlroy started playing professional golf in 2007 and plays on the PGA Tour and European Tour. He has 29 PGA Tour wins and five major championships. He has also been named the European Tour Player of the Year four times and has won the PGA Tour FedEx Cup three times.

After McIlroy made the final shot that secured his Masters victory, he ecstatically slid on his knees in the grass while the crowd chanted his name. A fan used the celebratory image of McIlroy as an inspiration to create a drawing made of 6,300 words. TaylorMade Golf posted the artwork on their X page with a message in the caption:

“Never, ever give up on your dreams. #TeamTaylorMade #BeyondDriven. Art by @jaycehallart”

During the post-round press conference following Rory McIlroy’s victory, he encouraged young people to keep chasing their ambitions. He said via ASAP Sports:

“Just keep believing. And I would say that to any young boy or girl that's listening to this. I've literally made my dreams come true today, and I would say to every boy and girl listening to this, believe in your dreams, and if you work hard enough and if you put the effort in, that you can achieve anything you want.”

When asked to explain what was going through his mind when he slid on his knees on the 18th hole, he said he felt relieved at first that it was over, and then he felt joy.

Rory McIlroy finished his final round at Augusta tied with Justin Rose for the lead with 11-under. McIlroy emerged victorious after a playoff with Rose.

How Rory McIlroy fulfilled his promise from 27 years ago

After Rory McIlroy achieved his career Grand Slam, a video from 1998 resurfaced online. In the video, young McIlroy can be seen talking about the game and how much he aspires to accomplish in the future. He said via Golf Digest on X:

“I’d like to turn pro and win all the majors… When I was two years of age, dad took me out to the course and made me hit a couple of shots and that’s how I got into golf.”

Rory McIlroy’s coach Michael Bannon also made an appearance in the video, singing praises about the young golfer’s ability to prioritize the game at such an early age.

Bannon said that McIlroy, who was only nine at the time, had a great “parent influence” and a bright future ahead. He commended the star golfer for practicing the game every day and always thinking of ways to improve his grip and swing.
