"Golf should be about fashion"- Jason Day hopes to catch the eye of the new generation through clothing collaboration with Malbon Golf
Jason Day has received a lot of attention for his fashion lately. His collaboration with Malbon Golf has resulted in some eye-catching outfits, sometimes sparking conversation among fans and analysts about what he's wearing more so than how he's playing.
That's not something that bothers Day, who believes golf and fashion shouldn't necessarily be separate. He said (via the PGA Tour):
"It's exciting when you have the opportunity to help build a brand, and I'm hoping that it introduces more people to the game or young people, people that haven't even thought about playing the game. At the end of the day, golf should be about fashion."
Erica Malbon revealed that she co-founded the brand largely because there was space for a forward-thinking company and because they wanted to promote "the greatest game" to a younger audience.
Stephen Malbon, the other co-founder, said that golf has a tendency to be "old and heavy." Malbon sought to show that the game can actually be young and light instead.
The co-founder shouted out Day, saying that he's been a fan for a very long time. He praised his parenting skills and said he was a great husband. He said that all of that comes first for Day, who has put Malbon on the map. He said that no one knew who Malbon was, but now they do because everyone knows who Day is.

Jason Day didn't wear bright or interesting clothes on the golf course. So when he did, thanks to Malbon Golf, it caught everyone's attention.
Fans and analysts weren't the only ones who noticed. Fellow golfers and caddies did as well.
Day said (via the PGA Tour):
“Even Joe (Skovron, the longtime TOUR caddie for Rickie Fowler, Tom Kim, and Ludvig Åberg), was like, ‘I didn't know who it was. I didn't recognize the person.' We're like, ‘How did that person get in here hitting balls on the range?’ It was just crazy. Everyone was looking at me giving me side-eye.”
Day said he was more interested in having a relaxed, loose-fitting outfit. He said that everything in golf is geared to be more athletic, but he was looking for a bit of a wardrobe change.
He continued:
“That’s what got me excited, because I knew I was going to step on a golf course and no one else was going to look like me, which is great, because that’s what I wanted as a player was just like, ‘OK, this is me and I’m going out to play golf.’”
Malbon Golf was originally launched in 2017 and partnered with Jason Day in 2024.
