Golf Insider compares 'egregious' $160 TGL ticket prices vs. $750 Ryder Cup ticket prices

Ticket prices for the upcoming Ryder Cup have been making headlines ever since they were announced. The biennial event will be played at Bethpage Black in New York in September 2025, and tickets for a day of the competition will cost a shocking $750.

At the same time, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's TGL League announced that tickets to watch the event at the SoFi Center will cost $160. Golf Digest's renowned journalist Christopher Powers compared the two prices in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

"What’s the more egregious price ? $160 for TGL? (watching guys hit into a screen) $750 for Ryder Cup? (handful of groups on the course, might not even get that close to the action, but get to wait on line for food and non-alcoholic beverages which are included!) What a toss up," he wrote.

The SoFi Center, currently in the final stages of construction in Florida, will be the home of the TGL League. It will cover 3500 square meters and accommodate 1500 spectators.

Ticket prices for the SoFi Center were announced on Monday 21 October. The cheapest tickets will cost $160 and go on sale on October 29.

The league has also announced its schedule for the inaugural season, which begins on 7 January. The season will run until 25 March and will be broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN 2.

Ticket prices for The Ryder Cup 2025

The 2025 Ryder Cup will be played from September 26-28, 2025, but will be open to the public from the 23, when practice rounds begin. The PGA of America has announced ticket prices which will increase as the week progresses. The prices have been announced as follows:

  • Practice days (Tuesday and Wednesday): $255.27
  • Practice day, Junior Ryder Cup exhibition, celebrity matches and Opening ceremony (Thursday): $423.64
  • Competition days (Friday through Sunday): $749.51

Included in the ticket price is access to Bethpage Black and the all-inclusive food and non-alcoholic beverage program for the day(s).

Tickets will be sold through a lottery starting in November. Those interested in purchasing tickets will need to register in a special registry on the event's official website.

The PGA of America will also charge volunteers for their participation in this capacity at the event. Volunteers will pay $392 for a "Volunteer Package," which includes a uniform, drawstring bag, commemorative pin and food (during shifts only).

The Ryder Cup will be held for the 45th time in 2025. The American team has 27 wins, 15 losses, and two ties. Of the 15 losses, 12 were to the European team and three were to Great Britain and Ireland, a team that played under that name until 1979, when it expanded to include all of Europe.

The European Team has won seven of the last 10 editions, including the 2023 edition which was held at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.
